To prepare these biscuits I suggest the use of a small kneader because the ingredients have to be mixed quickly avoiding to warm the dough. In the absence you can still knead by hand trying to do as quickly as possible. As usual I will use my “dear old” Bimby.
Ingredients:
for the dough:
- 300 gr of flour;
- 80 gr of sugar;
- 175 gr cold butter cut in pieces;
- 2 egg yolks;
- 100 gr finely chopped almonds;
- the inside of 1 vanilla pod;
- 1 teaspoon minced orange peel;
- 1 teaspoon crushed anise;
to decorate:
- 80 grams of powdered sugar;
- 4 tablespoons chopped anise;
- 2 tablespoons minced orange peel.
Let’s knead!
- put all ingredients in the kneading (or on the working surface) and knead quickly until the dough will be in crumbles;
- put the dough on the work surface, and finish kneading by hand;
- form two rolls, wrap them in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 2 hours;
- whwn ready, take the dough off from the refrigerator, cut it into slices about half centimeter and give it the shape of a half moon:
- bake at 180 degrees for about 10-15 minutes, the cookies should remain very clear;
- when baked, let them cool down a bit;
- in the meanwhile mix the icing sugar with the orange peel and anise;
- when the cookies will be lukewarm, roll them gently, into sugar
